MLK Day 2012 (for MNS)
When Music National Service (MNS) asked us to join them again to document a day of song and service for Martin Luther King Jr Day, we immediately said yes. Last year was so fun and so inspiring that we simply couldn’t say no.
We headed down to the Mission district of San Francisco to John O’Connell High School and joined over 200 volunteers, including local residents, students, teachers, parents, and 50 Google employees to repair and improve the school. Throughout the course of the day, our crew captured the community coming together, conducted key interviews, and partook in a lot of the fun.
Filming a live event of this scale with no solid cues on what’s going to happen or how to capture it is always a challenge, but as renegades, it’s what we excel in. After everything was over, we handed the footage over to MNS and their skilled media guru, Chris Howarth, and let him cut it together. The results are truly amazing and allow volunteers to relive this day and for others to see the fantastic work that Music National Service does.
